Founder and CEO
Clark has been in technology investment banking for over 25 years and has advised on over one hundred Merger & Acquisition transactions, IPOs, common stock and convertible offerings, private placements and restructurings. Many of his transactions stand out as transformational and industry defining within their respective technology subsectors.
Clark has long been viewed a thought leader in the software and Internet domains, and has held senior leadership positions at Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, Thomas Weisel Partners, and CIBC.
Prior to his career in finance, Clark was a Military Intelligence officer and paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps.
Clark has a BS in Engineering from The United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
For fun: Clark’s oldest son is Electronic Dance Music producer Fareoh, and his youngest son is a budding Tech entrepreneur. He is also related to the Ole Ball coach (Steve Spurrier) and John Chapman (Jonny Appleseed).
Managing Director
Mark Yurko joined SCP in 2010 and leads the Communications sector coverage for the firm. He also advises clients across a wide range of Technology sectors including marketing automation, collaboration, and analytics software. Mark has advised on Merger & Acquisition and financing transactions with an aggregate value of over $100 billion. His experience also includes numerous IPOs, convertible offerings, private placements, restructurings and leveraged finance transactions.
Prior to joining SCP, Mark was a senior banker in the Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) Investment Banking Group at Credit Suisse. Prior to this, Mark spent five years in Citigroup’s TMT Investment Banking Group. At Credit Suisse and Citi, Mark executed transactions for clients in the Technology, Media, Entertainment, Satellite and Telecommunications sectors.
Before his career in finance, Mark was a Captain in the United States Army, serving as a Field Artillery officer in Europe and the U.S.
Mark has a BS in Mathematical Economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA (Beta Gamma Sigma) from Columbia Business School.
For fun: Mark is a diehard Green Bay Packers fan, wine enthusiast and avid skier.
Christine joined SCP in 2013 and oversees all administrative aspects of the firm. Prior to joining SCP, Christine spent several years in Corporate Research and Risk Management at a financial guaranty company . Most recently, she held roles in administration at MacAndrews & Forbes and Clear Channel Media Holdings, and in risk management at Barclays Capital.
Christine has a BSM from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
For fun: Christine enjoys weekends on the Cape and loves all things Boston.
Communications, Senior Advisor
George Kelly advises SCP clients in the communications equipment and communications software industries.
Prior to joining SCP, George was a Managing Director and Communications Investment Banking Senior Advisor at Morgan Stanley. George also spent nearly two decades in the Research Division at Morgan Stanley, where he was a Senior Analyst and Head of Technology Research. George was frequently the number one Institutional Investor (II) ranked communications analyst. Before Morgan Stanley, George spent 14 years at IBM in various positions, and was previously a division manager at AT&T.
George has advised on some of the most important mergers, acquisitions, IPOs, and partnerships in the communications industry. He was actively involved in bringing many of industry’s most influential companies public. The list of over thirty IPOs includes Cisco, Lucent, Alcatel, Avaya, Broadcom, Brocade, Ascend, Cascade, Sycamore, SynOptics, Xylan, Extreme, Redback, Akamai, CacheFlow, and AsiaInfo.
George has a BS from Newark College of Engineering, now New Jersey Institute for Technology, and currently serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of Prodea Systems, Inc.
IT Security and Defense Tech, Senior Advisor
John Quigg advises SCP clients in the information security and communications software industries. John previously served as the technical director of the Defense Department’s Joint Task Force for Global Network Operations and helped stand up US Cyber Command as a technical director in the command’s operations directorate. During the course of his 27 year career in the united States Army he worked intensively with the intelligence, space, and communications industries with a focus on driving innovation into some of the most inhospitable operating environments on earth. Most recently, he was McAfee Federal’s Principal Cyber Strategist and a security consultant with Alexa Strategies. He was the Army Space Program’s Program Manager for airborne and satellite imagery systems, intelligence collection management, and the Army’s Intelligence Master Plan which encompassed a variety of CRM, budget, staff, logistics, and operations planning systems. He was actively involved in the information security aspects of planning and execution of the transformation of classified networks in Afghanistan and the middle east during the height of the conflict.
John holds a BS in Physics from the United States Military Academy at Westpoint, a MS in Computer Science from the Naval Post Graduate School, and a MA in Computer Systems Management from Webster University.
IT and Hardware, Senior Advisor
Richard Birney advises SCP clients in the areas of enterprise technology and cloud initiatives.
Prior to joining SCP, Richard was Head of Strategic Investments at IBM and responsible for directing IBM’s growth initiatives and investments within IBM Corporate Development. Richard had a distinguished and illustrious career with IBM spanning 36 years, which included 16 years of investment experience, 20 years of operational experience and broad international experience. Among recent responsibilities at IBM spanning the last decade, Richard led a worldwide team to identify companies for strategic partnership or acquisition by IBM business units; directed growth initiatives and strategies in partnership with the private equity and venture capital industry; and developed growth initiatives in emerging geographies and technologies. Richard also served as advisor to Fortune 500 companies on IBM M&A processes.
Among his many accomplishments during the last decade, Richard developed a fund investing strategy that delivered a high internal rate of return (IRR significantly greater than 20%). In emerging geographies and technologies, Richard developed an investment strategy for IBM in China, India, Israel, Latin America and Eastern Europe. Richard managed over $500 million in investments around the world and has received industry recognition for developing best practices and patents in M&A processes, making IBM a recognized leader in Corporate Development. Richard also developed strategies for IBM to compete in new technologies in mobile services, financial services, networking, cloud computing, clean technologies and semiconductor manufacturing.
Richard is also the inventor of several advancements in computing technology, holding several patents with many foreign filings, with over 70 total filings. Richard has been a frequent speaker at global investment conferences.
Richard has a BS and a MS in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.

Griffin Bealle covers Enterprise Software, with a particular focus on Big Data, Cloud Architecture, Mobility, and Middleware. Prior to joining SCP, Griffin worked as an investment banking analyst at Deutsche Bank Securities. As a member of the Industrials group, Griffin helped to serve clients in the Engineering and Construction, Manufacturing, and Metering industries.
Outside of work, Griffin serves on the Board of the Adeona Foundation, an organization aimed at supporting youth- and community-based charities in the New York City area.
Griffin graduated cum laude with a BS in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University, where he was a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team.
For fun: Griffin spent a semester studying in Rome and traveled throughout Europe. Griffin is a direct descendant of James Watt, inventor of the steam engine.

Chris covers Application Software with a particular focus on Vertical Applications, Marketing Automation and optimization, Analytics, Business Intelligence, CRM, HCM, ERP, SCM, and Commerce Software.
Prior to joining SCP, Chris was Director, Digital Product Strategy and Innovation Catalyst for Ipsos, a leading global research firm. He joined Ipsos through the acquisition of online research firm OTX where he was Director of Innovation and Strategy. Chris previously worked with multiple startups in the digital marketing space.
Chris has a BA in Financial Economics from Columbia University.

Geoff covers Security and Infrastructure Software with a particular focus on Systems & Storage, Data Management, Cloud Infrastructure, Virtualization, and Payment / Transaction Security.
Prior to joining SCP, Geoff worked as a Senior Research Analyst for Parker Global Strategies, an alternative investment firm based in Stamford, CT. Geoff graduated cum laude with a distinction in Economics from Colby College, where he earned a BS in Economics with a Concentration in Financial Markets. He was also a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team and Colby Student Investment Association.
For fun: Geoff’s desk is next to Griffin’s, just as it was in 6th grade English class. The Parr family in Pixar’s The Incredibles was modeled after Geoff’s family–Yes, really.
Healthcare / Life Sciences Information Technology
Derek Ritchea covers Healthcare and Life Sciences IT focusing on companies that are transforming the healthcare ecosystem through disruptive Technology and Technology-enabled Services.
Prior to joining SCP, Derek worked for the past 12+ years in Healthcare Investment Banking at Merrill Lynch and Leerink Partners, working in various roles on both M&A advisory and Capital Markets execution. Most recently, Derek covered companies in Healthcare Technology and Healthcare Services.
Derek has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Before joining Spurrier Capital Partners, Nelson worked with Meridian Capital Partners and HSBC supporting efforts in alternative asset management and real estate finance respectively. Nelson has a BS in Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
For fun: Outside of an interest in Technology, Nelson curates an extensive (yet perfectly reasonable) whisky collection, supports Food Rescue programs in NYC, and enjoys all things German.

Alex covers Financial Technology and Payments Software.
Prior to joining SCP, Alex spent two years at Financial Technology Partners in San Francisco, supporting companies in the banking software, alternative lending, and B2B payments sectors as well as maintaining financial sponsor coverage across the firm. Alex graduated with a BA in Economics from Emory University where he was a member of the Men’s Varsity Soccer team.
For fun: Outside of work, Alex’s interests include playing and watching sports, running, traveling, and backpacking and is always on the lookout for the best new restaurants in town. Alex reports that EN Japanese Brasserie has the best sashimi this side of Tokyo.

Stephanie is an Executive Assistant at SCP. Prior to joining SCP, Stephanie spent several years in the fashion industry as a Sales Executive, with a focus on brand building, new product launches, and inter-corporate communications.
Stephanie graduated with a BS in Retail Management from Syracuse University.
